Kathy Finley, Robertson County Extension Agent
Objective:
To provide recognition for 4-H project work by conducting a virtual fair, in lieu of the traditional fair which was cancelled. To increase 4-H enrollment by reaching out to youth interested in fair participation but not actively involved in the county program.
Materials Needed:
Set up a web page with links to registration (online) and fillable pdf for submission by email. We felt this was the easiest way to keep entries together with photo attachments. We tried google forms, question pro, etc. They were good but didn't work well for us.
Here is a link to the resource https://tiny.utk.edu/virtualfair
Unused prize money in 2020 will be utilized for the awards.
Teens will be asked to provide leadership for the different departments, collating entries and photos, posting results, etc.
Former adult fair volunteers and community partners will judge entries.
We decided in order to insure 4-H enrollment, to require online registration for the fair, then submit fillable entry forms and photos via email.
No cost for anything except the awards, which could be ribbons only, or 4-H swag, etc.
